8,2:On the nose , we find a molasses rum with roundly medicinal accents. Aromatic herbs, sometimes resinous, sometimes chlorophyll, bring depth and freshness. The toasted oak takes us back to a little more familiar territory, as do the slightly tart red fruits which follow, burnt sugar .
With airing, an icing sugar. We then bounce from one marshmallow to another, then coming across a soft vanilla or powdered strawberries. Once again, the lightly toasted white wood brings us its slightly more robust aromas with dried, nutty fruits.
8,5:The palate is coated by a woody and caramelized wave, with a fairly pleasant concentration, then surprisingly a nice wave of grapefruit. Vanilla envelops a pinch of roasted spices, then we find notes of slightly resinous molasses. Nuts are caught in a brittle but nevertheless delicious nougatine and dried, poached fruits. After long time, blackcurrant heavily....
8,2:The finish is fine and light, with caramelized and dark fruits. There is a small layer of smoke.
Rum ve vůni něco hodně sladkého. Chuť zpočátku jemná, přechází do trochu podivného závěru.
Celkově mi, i díky množství které jsem měl možnost prozatím ochutnat moc ,,nesedl". Uvidíme zda se k němu ještě někdy dostanu ve větším množství, než 2cl.
I love Mezan rums. Unashamedly so (albeit prefer their non-Jamaican ones). And this is another fantastic rum. I actually usually like their own tasting notes, as they seem to be a company that actually hits the mark without going into ridiculous embellishments.
Deep caramel and muscovado nose; crystalised fruit with leather, pencil shavings and a touch of vanilla creme brulée. Soft approach on the palate giving way to a broad butterscotch flavour with honey, nutmeg and allspice on the finish.
I compare it to their best bottlings, at least in my eyes, which are the oaky Panamanians, and love this one for the spiciness that it has.
If I was stranded on a desert island, I could live my days out with Mezan and Foursquare/Doorly's.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Very smooth with a nice balanced sweetness and spicyness to it. Surprisingly little oak for being so old. Very easy to keep pouring glass after glass of this
