Not much complex rum with sweet caramel and fruity tones. Strong burning aftertaste.
Has flavour components found in un aged rhums de la Réunion, and the aging adds a certain complexity and depth to the taste of this nice rhum. Great to drink neat.
Ok daily sipper. Not to complex, easy to drink.
Slightly fruity with strong burn
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Bought three different Rivière du Mat, produced in Reunion, during my drive down to Spain.
This is the second I open, a traditionnel Rhum Vieux.
Haven’t found out the aging, but I characterize it as a VO with an aging about 3 years.
The aroma is sweet, woody and fruity.
The taste is also fruity and woody but also a little bit spicy and with hints of vanilla.
The finish is rather long, fruity and dry with hints of bitter almond.
Overall an OK rum that’s definitely better than the Ambre because of its deeper character (easier to recognize the aroma and tastes) and longer finish.
