Went looking for Brugal 1888. This was being sampled by Friar Tuck. Very smooth. Will enjoy sipping this one.
I personally like 21 yr old solera rums and this one is quite refreshing. For more money you can get better 21yr old soleras but for the price this one punches above its weight. Finishes like apricot.
A very nice tasting rum. Hints of caramel and spice. Sweet but not overly so. Excellent on the rocks or with favorite mix. I highly recommend
Smooth hardly any bite. Though it does have a whisky note.
deep amber color, hefty sweetness. good sipper. nothing super exciting, but decent for the price
Crisp with alcohol forward. A bit of fruit. Wouldnโt mix it.
This is an outstanding rum. It's smooth with an excellent taste. Highly recommend it!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is an oldie but one of my favorite rums. Porteno 21 is a Colombian rum that appears to be aged in some version of an oak barrel.
The first nose is very mild with a hint of the alcohol. The second nose reveals a sweet hint of Carmel or vanilla. The first sip is light on the tongue with a very mild sweet hint of Carmel. The second sip opens up the flavors more, the wood and pepper come through. It ends with a mild fruit taste and a medium finish. This is a very light rum and not too sweet.
This is a sipper best served neat and chilled. Served on the rocks flattens out the already mild flavor to almost nothing. Mixed with a splash of coke is nice as it does not make it too sweet. The price point between $30-$50 makes it a good sipper when itโs on sale.
