This is a sweet rum, which some may feel is a little unbalanced, but itβs not too bad for me. Ranked about the same as HC7.
Nice presentation and bottle with a suspiciously dark rum given that only a part of the blend inside is 15 years of age, often meaning that very little of the rum is actually that old. The label states that the rum consists of a blend from some of the great jamaican rock stars, such as hampden and monymusk, but again the nose hits me with a much sweeter profile than i'm used to from these brands, so i'm thinking we are dealing with a fair bit of additives here. That aside, it's not upleasant nosing this rum.
The aroma gives of notes of fat, sweet soaked raisins, vanilla fudge, bananas, and just a hint of that lovely gluey funk one might expect, especially from hampden. Cant say that i'm not enjoying the nose, in a desert kind a way.
Despite a sweet aroma, it doesn't prepare you for how very surprisingly sweet the taste is, and this is where the chain kinda fall off for me. The first sip, I can't really focus on anything else than cloying sugar, that seems to coat the inside of my mouth for a good while. Trying a second sip I manage to extract a bit of raisin/banana nuance, that is once again quickly drowned in a sea of sugar. The aftertase lingers with tiny spicy tingles underneath the sugar avalance.
It states on the back of the bottle, that this rum "honor the traditions of dark jamaican rum" which probably could not be futher from the truth... Wow. Never again.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

If you are fan of sweet rums like AH Riise, this is a winner and you will love it. It is way way too sweet for me. Nose is flat and taste is gone in seconds. Anyway for sweet rum lovers this is a hit for sure.
