Bacardi 8 rum

Bacardi 8

United States | Aged | 40% ABV

Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.

This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

Not quite an 8, but a very solid (and respectable) 7.

This 8 year old amber rum has a mild scent of whiskey Strong aroma and a little biting on the tongue when sipped. As suggested on the Bacardi website this rum is great in an Old Fashioned. In my opinion it is better when mixed in a cocktail. I never did a direct comparison to other rums on my shelf. When i do I will update this review to confirm where it stands. I feel it falls between an El Dorado 8 and 12 in terms of its taste.

I could not clearly identify flavors . Too alcoholic for me. Extra added sugar.
A bit expensive.

This is a better rum for making drinks like Cuba Libre, but I rate my rums from the straight-up-experience. It's quite plain and bland but worked really good with cola and lime when I tried it.

Un ron que puede ser tomado en las rocas o con poca coca cola

As Bacardi rums go, this is definitely one of the better ones. Pretty good as a sipping rum, but excellent in tiki drinks. Nice!

Nice dark color. Interesting flavor that comes off a bit smoky. As someone who likes a good sweet scotch (Speyside), this was very good.

BEST Bacardi product I've ever tried - a brand known for being ultra-sweet-sweet-sweet, this one has a LOT more character in its taste profile than just tons of overbearing sugar. Smoky oak & spice push through nicely, gently heating up the palate, and a nice finish lingers, with ever-so-slight a burn in the throat, but not so much that it's an unpleasant experience. A quality sipper, much to my surprise and delight!
