Abuelo Reserva Superior 7-Year

Great fruity aroma, a bit bland taste but goes down easily.

First of all, this is going to be my first rum-review, hence experienced users can classify my review a bit better :) Even though, I’ve already tasted some good stuff!
This one (Abuelo 7 años) has a quite monotonous nose which almost fully contains out of wooden aromas. In the mouth you can taste a bit of chocolate, roasted hazelnut and coffee. After swallowing there sadly just remains the spice of the alcohol in your throat…
Overall there is no such thing as an “alteration of flavour-expressions” while tasting the product.

To be accurate I'll give it a 6.5. Very woody smell, not as sweet or good as Havana Club 7 but better than Flor de Caña 7. Distinctive taste.

Yes, it tastes a bit like whiskey but still a rum. A little spicy and a little sweet. Well balanced and decent for the price, but not my cup of tea.

I'm glad i bought this one for a try. This rum perfectly matches my taste buds. Kind of sweet, light but has a great rum taste.

Overly sweet at first, but has really nice butterscotch flavours, wood and flowers.

Tasted 2/7/22 at Laka Lono as part of a 4-rum Ron Abuelo tasting to finish off Quartermaster status.
Tasting notes indicate this rum is "kinda hot" and "I'm ok with letting other people drink this," meaning that I want to support rum but sometimes it is best to let other people have the rest of the bottle.

Laka Lono Kill devil rum club tasting
Appearance: amber/rose (could be the lighting)
Aroma: sweet, vanilla, caramel
Flavor: I'm going to upgrade this to an 8.
Why? Delightful combo of dust, vanilla, the color gray and sunshine

Well demonstrates the base line of Abuelo rums. Bright vanilla and smokiness barrel, nutty honey; The taste is dense, slightly sweet, not alcoholic. Great to enjoy without mixing cocktail.

Nothing real exciting to report on this one. Like others stated, on the nose has a whiskey barrel scent, on the tongue, a dry slight spice flavor with lingering vanilla after taste. Decent value for the money due to a smooth sipping factor.
