Suprizingly funky and exceeded all expectations which were high considering the distillery it's produced by.
Everyone should try this. This is just rum. Nothing else. No additives, flavors, sweeteners or contrived “funk”. Don’t even think about a mixer. This is rum and should be drank like rum. Nose is clean with just a hint of vanilla and almond. Not a big pungent nose. It has bite but is super smooth. Clean and vibrant on the pallet. Not sweet. One of the most balanced rums I have ever tried. Silky smooth. Medium finish that is clean and bright. Wow! Great rum. Better near but also superb on ice. It’s simplicity and purely elevate this to greatness.
I have tried over 200 different rums. Some I find too sweet as they can add coloring and sugar to make it more to the taste of the casual drinker. Barbados does not allow any adulteration to the rums produced there. This is smooth and perfect for someone who enjoys the fine nuances of rum. I has wonderful favors of cane syrup, bananas, and other tropical fruits and spices. There is no harshness and remains smooth throughout the tasting. While I plan to drink this neat or with two cubes of ice, I would consider having a splash on Cointreau with ice. I have had bottles of rum costing over 5X this and their could not compare to this one. A keeper.
No additives in this one. A great choice if you dislike overly sweet rums. At 46% it is still smooth, with buttery vanilla overtones. Try it if you can.
I've always been a whiskey guy, so trying Rum that wasn't in a frozen drink was going to be a little different. I was recommended RL Seale and was blown away. I don't typically like really sweet whiskey, so this was perfect. Having no additives or added sugar plays a big role. Leather and wood was the first thing I got when I tried it. The finish was a little sweet, but extremely smooth. This will always be in my bar.
Bit of a punch on the first sip. Mellows as you drink Caramel, Walnut, Cola at the end. Good mixer. Decent sipper.
Nose: Lots of immediate nuttiness: crushed walnuts and toasted peanuts mixed with a light caramel glaze. Warm vanilla, polished wood, and a subtle zing of rubber intertwined with old orange peels and stone fruit skins. The toasted edges of bibingka (a Filipino baked cake dish made with coconut and rice). There's a clear nuanced warmth with this one.
Palate: Moderately rich yet easy. The polished wood notes take a step forward but bring along with it delicate hints of pears, toasted coconut, and aromatic bitters. Persisting light flavors of dried sultanas. I realize that this can easily come across as being a sherried Scotch from the highlands or speyside. Medium-bodied.
Finish: Much of it drops off quite early, leaving behind some nuttiness.
"Buttery, nuttiness hits me and washes over my tongue in waves. It’s magical stuff..."

The nose is classically Bajan.
"It leaves notes of oak, nuts and smokiness behind in the finish which is long and pleasant. ."
