the aroma is a sweet vanilla noted caramel, taste is a very clean clear highly recommended
Fantastic array of flavours. Smooth enough but still packs a punch. Needs to grow on you. Solid 8.5 so I'm being generous with a 9.
Not too sweet, light wood, with a vegetative flavour from the agricole. Great blend here. Sweet tobacco and a hint of mint. I am very happy with this rum. Best rum Ive ever had from the Caribbean Islands!
Nose/flavor are a very close match: tropical fruit with a dash of brown sugar. But the mouth feel is impeccable - it swishes around like a syrup, but without any kind of artificial sweetness. In the end, it melts in your mouth like a good cake.
Another 1931 from St Lucia, good stuff !
Tobacco, smoke and leather... yum !
It's a rum that I'm already familiar with. I know the Chairmans for The Netherlands. It's a column still blend.
Nose: It's a tropical, long aged rum that escapes from the glas. With orange zests, wood, some flowery notes, also dry fruits. There are some heavy aromas like medical notes, some leather/tobacco, wood varnish.
Of course you can also find the typical Bourbon wood with vanilla in the background. A good smell, the dilution is not that much noticeable.
Taste: A little bit thin start, with some bitter notes of tannins, orange zests and wood. The wood and tannins are rising towards the middle. The sparpness increases, I notice the bourbon barrel. Orange zests are exploading. Some leather notes and wood varnish are noticeable.
The finish is spicy, with Bourbon barrel, some tannins, earthy notes and the orange zests.
Aftertaste: Dry orange zests, wood, some medical notes, bourbon wood, apricots
Conclusion: Good signature blend from Chairman's. I see this one like the MG XO. It's not very complex but shows what Chairman is capable of.

Deep and rich. Nice mellow finish. One of the best Valentines gifts ever!
Probably the best rum I have ever and likely one of the best available. This rum captures the essence of chairmen rums and their unique blends but is by far much smoother. The aroma is rich with hints of floral and then the welcoming first sip does not disappoint. Many complex blends , hints of grass, tobacco, Carmel, to name a couple and a smooth long finish . I will drink this one. A true rum with the soul and passion of the St Lucian people!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I was waiting with excitement to finally taste this highly regarded drop. First impression was shock and bewilderment! - It cant be.. this must be a dud bottle, stored incorrectly or something horrific has changed its DNA. Purchased from a most reputable store with which whom I have a long and successful relationship with. Wood and cheap liquorice with an unpleasant chemical smell, taste does not improve after the nosing and stays the same. Give it the benefit of the doubt and try again in a few weeks. It has mellowed but with the same cheap liquorice taste, most unimpressed. I cant find any flavour profile similar to other chairman's drop???
Alright, an opened bottle with a few glasses worth missing and a month later usually improves most bottles - Nope! The nose has improved and the taste only mildly more pleasant than what I recall but still that damn cheap liquorice dominates. I do notice a pleasant oak taste and a mild caramel appearing later but too little to late to impress. I have a third of the bottle left and will give it a couple of more months to Hopefully allow some oxygen to improve this bad boy. Very disappointed by this experience and will rate it accordingly but I do hold hope my experience is a one off and not the true drop.
