Clairin Le Rocher 🇭🇹 rhum is made with juice from three different varieties of cane, boiled into sugarcane syrup, and unlike other clairin uses about 30% vinasses from the previous distillations (i.e. dunder-style) for each batch. The operation is run by Bethel Romelus in the village of Pignon. This batch is 49.8%ABV.

On the nose there is cane, banana, Jamaican-style funk, coriander, solvent, overripe mango, sour, movie popcorn and burnt cheese.

The palate is ripe fruit, honey, cinnamon and Swedish berries.

The finish is walnut and tropical fruit.

Another great clairin - it's really tough to pick a favourite, as they're all so different and it would greatly depend on the mood/situation. I'm looking forward to tasting more!

I don't even know where to begin in describing this agricole rum.

As soon as I popped the cork my nose was overwhelmed with wonderful scents and aromas: sweet fruits, spices, grassy notes, agave and anise among other weird and wonderful smells. Sipping it is a flavor explosion but smooth on the tongue and not as harsh as the alcohol nose indicates it could be. And there is a taste that brings images of mowing the lawn while fixing the motor and drinking mescal. This is weird and wonderful and so much fun drinking.

If you want something interesting and different, look no further! Highly recommended unless you aren't adventurous and open-minded.

Amazing haitian rum, with complex and delicate flavours. The peculiar smoked aftertaste reminds me of the peat found in the Islay whiskeys, but more delicate and balanced.
Overall a great choice for jamaican and agricole lovers.

My favorite rum, hands down. As funky as Rum Fire but way, way easier to tame in cocktails. My Isle of Haiti is my favorite. 2oz Le Rocher, 3/4 oz lime, 1/2 oz 2:1 honey syrup; 1/4 orgeat.

Great rum! All of the Clairins I have tried so far are wonderful spirits. All are a steal for $50.

Sladkost: 0/3
Celá lahev
Nejhorší z ochutnávky 5 Clairinů - Le Rocher je už brutální smraďoch; silné kafe i pro ty, kteří mají tento styl rádi. Ze všech Clairinů se k tomuto budu vracet nejméně.
1. Ansyen 9/10
2. Sajous 8+/10
3. Vaval 8/10
4. Sonson 8/10
5. Le Rocher 6/10

I really want to like this one, but struggle to. The medicine, grass and "inorganic" tastes is hard for me to enjoy. I am sure it is mainly a taste I haven't acquired yet, but for now my rating is appropriate, if not even a little high.

My intention is for this to be a warning for any newcomer, as well as measurment for my own sake. Maybe in half a year I will change this rating. I certainly look forward to trying.

Edit: Came back to it after a long time and I am pleasantly surprised how much more I like it now. The initial nose is hard to swallow, but after some sips and having let the pour open up, it truly is nice. And the taste is nothing like the smell.

Some other rums have gotten boring to me now, so I might have to rate this even higher later. For now I bump it up to 8 for being both fun and quite nice!
