This rhum from the Poisson distillery in Marie Galante/Guadeloupe is named after the Dominican monk Père Labat (Jean-Babtiste Labat) active in a lots of areas all over the Antilles.
I think it’s maybe a little too expensive normally, but I found it to a 1/3 of the normal price which makes it very pricewhorty for me.
It’s a very good and complex Rhum. The only thing that hold down my rating is the nose which has similarities with bad cognac. The palate and the long afterburn tastes quite fantastic. You can recognise spices, fruits, wood, mints, anise, florals, etc

This didn't really taste like an agricole to me. Certainly no grassy vibes. Instead, the smell and taste was more creme soda with a subtle wood and varnish. Somehow combined a pleasing smoothness with a noticeable burn. Very drinkable dram, but by the end the appeal was fading
I fell in love with pere labat and it’s style and this is by far the best one so far. The nose is so sugar cane rich that it’s close to a Spanish style rum ,the taste is just a smooth explosion of the Caribbean rum as it’s really supposed to be. All spice all day. Simply love it!
Not a great fan of agricol rum, but this one is really a good one, really loved it
That dirty (in a good way) Pere Labat style works perfect with age. The 8 year presents a lot of green fruits. But not as much as the 2004 and 1997 which are not on here but I would give a 10 for sure!
nevim proc tu neni, ale je to zajimavoyt ktera voni ovocne a prijemne a chutna vyborne az ostreji ale nepali..
I would wish to buy the destilery. This is all time favourite.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Another glitch from last month Father’s Day weekend sampling new rums from my sons. I think the Charbay derailed the ratings with its intense experience so here we go again, round 2. First thing I notice product of France Island Marie Galante, so expecting typical agricole at 42% just slightly over proof, aged 8 years with 40% evaporation. Easy on the nose no Charbay burn, very clean and smooth first taste with a lingering classic agricole on the tongue. From what I read this is a completely clean no additive rum made from all locally sourced sugar cane in small batches. This is a very good classic example of an agricole and highly recommended it to both agricole lovers and rum aficionados wanting to try a first agricole.
