I had tried what a thought was the best silver Rum, or Aguardiente, from Panamá, Seco Herrera o. At 36% alcohol, has a sweetness and a delicacy that comes from a very difficult art.... Making simple rums, with a sofisticated taste. Then... I found Marti Plata. It takes a true refined palate to appreciate this beauty. Sure, more sofisticated rums are, without a doubt, absolutely more enjoyable to the palate( Diplomático, Pampero, Cubay , Havana Club, the Cuban one please!).
But is in this simplicity, and the extraordinary endeavor to achieve a young rum, without the risky swanky funky aftertaste that many young rums carry out after the final destilling/fermentation process.... And the pineapple yeast is just a genius addition to make this, maybe, what my late grandfather, veteran from the old Bacardi factory in Santiago de Cuba, would call a good rum. The rum to play dominoes, roast a pig with friends, or enjoy a baseball game...... You get the idea. Felicidades Panamá, Martí has won my heart. Bravo.!
Had this rum in a daiquiri and little bit of it neat. The aroma was very pleasant. With pineapple and coconut aromas. I think this is a kicked up version of RumHaven.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I love the flavors. So sweet, vanilla and mellow...
