Cane Island Trinidad 8-Year

En stabil,god rom. Lite söt,ingen spritsmak men stark eftersmak.

I have earlier tried out Cane Island Venezuela and Barnbados variant with great pleasure.
Thought it would be nice to also test the variant from Trinidad to get a new variant in a different style. Thought this one should be much more to “Agricole”, but this is nothing like that.
Starting with the nose and it is for sure stronger than it’s “sisters” from Venezuela and Barbados. But smooth and gentle in the nose. Some sweet citrus/orange, some gentle toffe and oak.
The taste is dry, oaky, and a little bit more bitter than the nose. In the aftertaste there is some notes of almond och rubber.
The notes at slightly fading away.

Bought this after reading a lot of positive reviews on a rum forum and I found it very nice. It’s not as sweet as I first thought but the same thing happened when trying Zacapa 23 for the first time, which it really reminds me of in the tasting notes. Plus it’s a temporary bottle, at least here in Sweden.

Drank this rum as a part of the green rum box. Tried it neat, like all of the rums from the box. Sweet with a neutral taste. Drinkable but not very memorable.

A warm and inviting rum which is sweet but not overly so, followed a natural pepper and spice finish.

An anonymous looking bottle reminding me of a private label offering. Not an entirely nice smell and strange taste. Overall not enjoyable at all complete with a long burn to the point of numbness of the lips. Cola helps but not to the point of influencing me into buying a bottle. have tried 3 Cane Island products with similar results.

Cane Island Trinidad (8 år)
Duft: mørk sukker, træ (hvid eg😉), grillet banan, peber.
Smag: mørk karamel, peber/alkohol, fad, mynte/eucalyptus
Point: 5 (duften er virkelig dejlig, snydt at smagen ikke følger med)

The smell is nice, oak, banana. But there is a slight burn in the taste. Otherwise ok. Just the right amount of sweetness, not too much.

Pleasant. Sweet honey and spices on the palate with notes of banana and prominent oak.

Vanilla and a bit of spice, wooden barrel, nothing spectacular.
