You can tell that the base spirit isn't that great underneath all the flavour but who cares when the flavour is this much fun... just try to get it on a discount it's not worth the 60ish AUD the typically ask
This is a wonderful rum, with just the right amount of spice, sweet, and fruit. A good rum first and foremost, and a flavoured rum second!
Less sweet and strongly flavoured than other fruity rums like Red Leg, and less spicy than other similarly priced rums like Kraken, I prefer to sip this neat after dinner or with a book.
Bananas and sugar cane β could it get more Queensland than that? This heady, tropical distillation is every bit as good as Malibu, if not better!
Some of the manufacturing of this bottle is done in PNG (Papua New Guinea), for the sake of the marketability of its name.
I donβt know what the connection between the cargo cults and rum is, but there may well be one.
If youβre gonna make a change with a flavoured rum (and youβve had Malibu), make it this one. Keep things tropical.
Itβs most drinkable (a good ratio has been achieved in the flavours) β you wonβt be sorry!
Good rum with banana flavor. In my opinion the flavor is not enough strong
I really liked the Cargo Cults spiced rum and was looking forward to trying this. Its spiced and flavoured rum that still tastes like rum ! Not some commercial syrupy mess. Easily sippable with an ice cube.. mixes ok , would make a great banana daiquiri , or pina colada type cocktail. Rum from Papua New Guinea ( who knew ?) And Fiji , then shipped to Aussie where they blend the spices and add the Queensland bananas which is where im living ! Apparently there's a pineapple version just come out which I will try. Mango would be next im guessing as Queensland has plenty of bananas , pineapples and mangoes , oh , and tons of sugarcane.
Just tried this product and it's amazing! Really well balanced, not too sweet, not heavy on the banana, just really well balanced and delicious. Just drink this one over ice - no need to mix! Delicious!
North Queensland bananas and South Pacific Rum - what is there not to like about this product? I'm a big rum fan and i've never come across a Banana Rum - not a low ABV Rum Liqueur with artificial flavours - but a real Rum with actual Bananas. Th bartender made me a Banana Old Fashioned using this rum... and then I had two more. Great work guys!!
This is probably the very few spiced bannana rum products on the market and there is a clear reason why the flavour is dominated by the banana
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Thoughts: Batch No 3. Definitely not for rum lovers but a cheeky quirky flavour. With memories of foam banana penny sweets and milkshake. Even as a known artificial flavouring it really wasn't worth the purchase. Happy to definitely not drink this again.
Rating: 3/10
Smell - creamy foam bananas, milkshake, artificial banana, little spice
Taste - Not as banana as the smell, light spiciness
After Taste - Medium to long tasting of cheap sweets
