Virgin Islands, British | Aged | 40% ABV
The Great British Admiralty first served rum daily to its Royal Navy sailors over 300 years ago until the ration was abolished in 1970. In 1979 Charles Tobias bought the recipe rights, formed Pusser’s Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands, and for the first time made the rum it available for public consumption.
Pusser’s British Navy rum today is the same blend of five West Indian rums as the British Admiralty issued to sailors.
Known as the “single malt of rum” Pusser’s British Navy rum is pot stilled using a similar method as that for single malt scotches, and with no artificial flavors is 100% natural.

Reminds me of the dark Navy Captain Morgan or Lamb's dark Navy Rum...
Part of the 2021 24 days of Rums calendar. Eager to share my experience!
This Rum is not my style. Perhaps I'm just not a fan of Naval Rums. Of course, I'm sure if I had been provided a daily rationing of this while serving, I might have a different perspective!
I'm not very good at describing how something tastes, but I love the flavor of this rum. It tastes quite a bit different from other rums I've enjoyed. It has just enough hogo. I enjoyed it so much in a "painkiller," I'll definitely keep in in my home bar. So why eight bottles instead of nine or ten? I'll leave those ratings for 15 year old $80 bottles.
If it spends in a barrel maybe 3-5 years more it would be perfect. Notes of wood, walnuts and molasses are absolutely fantastic - only roughness of alcohol causes it is not a sipper, but very high class mixer. Very possible that sailors before 1970 didn't have such a good rum.
There are almost no disadvantages, the advantages are also small. .,.,.,.
So, I was not a huge fan of this rum. Not a sipper, not great as a mixer for rum and coke, not a great MaiTai rum. There is nothing wrong with the rum, but there are many better rums out there for the price that do so much more than this one does.
I was messing around with various cocktail ingredients and made a "cocktail" mixing this one part rum to 2 parts pineapple juice (not canned juice) pored over ice.
This make a delicious too-easy-to-drink cocktail. If it is too sweet you can acidify the pineapple juice with a small amount of ascorbic or malic acid. See link https://discoginferno.wordpress.com/2015/04/19/a-new-invention-lime-strength-pineapple-juice/

It has just the right balance of sweet.
"The rum is rich, warming, sweet, slightly oaked with hints of black pepper and allspice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
