Overripe or maybe dried banana and oil paint. Vanilla after some breathing
This is a high ester rum. Very well done and has many different hogo “taste” styles layered together. It will bring a lovely mix of funk to any mixed drink!
Da amante dei rum della Martinica sono rimasto comunque soddisfatto da questo giamaicano a piena gradazione. Secco ma con un bouquet piuttosto complesso e piacevole.
Nice and funky. Great price. Love the aromas. First smooth and then a little hot. If you can find it, I’d recommend it
Relatively mild as far as Jamaican Overproofs go, but not lackluster in the slightest
I was looking for a rum to replace Kirk & Sweeney as my evening sipping rum. This came highly recommended, so I tried it. For overproof there is not a huge burn in the taste. Since Hampden Estates uses orignal distilling methods the rum is very subtle. It is more in the style of a fine Cognac. I think I found my replacement.
Voni sa neda nic vytknut ale je fakt ostry ako britva.Niekto kto oblubuje tento styl rumov ho urcite oceni. Jamaica zrejme nie je moj rumovy raj.
This is not the H nor the DOK nor the C diamond H nor the diamond H nor any of these afficionados hi-end marks.... Ok, this is not the funkiest of Hampdens... But what it does, it does brilliantly ! Who cares the funk when we have so much unity and coherence ?! It just feels like "pure classic Jamaican aged rum" at an adult strength. Perfect balance, and after awhile, that incredible sensation of having coarse salt and raw liquorice on the tongue...
Give it time after opening (it is not "giving" as easy as its baby bro the 46 version...) and you will be rewarded.
A lot more oak and woody notes.
"The finish is really nice and warming. Again with some really nice oak aged notes and a really nice balance."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Mainly gold with a little amber colour. Heavy alcohol (as one would expect) and dried fruit on the nose. Some hints of Jamaican funk, but not overly pronounced here. Different from other Jamaicans I have tried. Same flavours going down. Heavy burn when served neat, but with some ice it becomes a strong sipper. It is Outstanding mixed with some Fever-Tree Ginger Beer.
