This Overproof absolutely fits for purpose from my point of view, a bit more wooden tail than GH but used to drink similar ones species of alcohol, it makes me blowed up from my pants 😎
Silny ale zaroven chutovo prenikavy a elegantny. 😊
As expected from Jamaica, and overproof it is strong and after taste goes for a while..
Całkiem, całkiem... Można kupić jeszcze raz ... Fajną paletka
The Hampden Pure Single Estate Overproof Rum is a molasses rum from Jamaica that is made in pot style and then stored in oak barrels for 7 years. Hampden processes its own sugar cane. The rum comes with 60% barrel strength in a not so pretty bottle, which almost bursts with information. Exemplary.
The rum is simply a force in the nose. Typical Jamaica and absolutely comparable to the Hampden of Velier. Lots of esters, fermented tropical fruits, some menthol. Heavy but fresh the nosing here is an absolute fun. The 60% are never disturbing but promote the many aromas. On the palate, the Hampden comes directly and powerfully. Ester notes are clearly recognizable. But not excessively. Some glue but also a lot of fruit like pineapple and ripe banana swing along. Some spice and wood notes become clearer towards the finish. In the end, the rum shows an amazingly light sweetness. There's just a lot going on. The finish is a bit sharper than with my Velier. The rum remains present for a long time and with a little water the taste can still be varied. It get's a little fruitier and lighter.
The Hampden Estate Overproof is worth every penny and a great rum. It shows all the power and acts wild and original. A must for friends of barrel strengths. But it can also be diluted well and it works excellently in your own blend. Simply top.
Einfach top.
Tasted in Drinks By The Dram - The Rum Advent Calendar (2019 Edition)
The most pronounced notes I taste: banana chocolate chunk ice cream, leather, cherries, gluestick
There is also some: rubber, smores by a campfire, dark plums, cherry Garcia ice cream, dewy rainforest bark and leaves, milk chocolate coated dried fruit, coconut, jasmine tea, arugula, dusty wood, whiskey, bbq pineapple, boysenberry syrup, chocolate coffee beans, mango, grilled potato, attics, black tea, orange pop, kosher salt crystals, plantains and crayon.
Finish: Long as hell and very dry... gluestick and cherry are dominant
Mouthful: GOOD - like a nice scotch
I love hogo and Jamaican pot still rums. They're generally my favorites. But for the price, I can't say this is totally worth it. But this is also something that is unlikely to be gone through quickly. And when in the mood, it is very nice. This has a very dry finish and a prominent gluestick note, so keep that in mind. If you're more into a hogo-ish fruit explosion, there are probably better options. I have the non-overproof version too (so I'll review that eventually).
Overall, this is a very authentic, traditional, cool, natural rum. Hogo times!
A lot more oak and woody notes.
"The finish is really nice and warming. Again with some really nice oak aged notes and a really nice balance."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Vůně nasládlá po tropickém ovoci. Chuť taková zemitá s tóny dřeva a lehce cítím i ovoce a na to, jakou voltáž to má, tak i velice jemná. Dal bych tomu tak 8.5 z 10 b.
