Není špatný, i když značka dalece předchází jeho kvality.
A bit of peppery spice - good for both mixing and sipping
Dark to golden brown colour. Nosing reveals fresh notes of sweetness, vanilla and light milk chocolate married with a touch of tobacco.
Sipped, this rums shows still real sweetness but its more of a young alcohol hit, rather than as a result of excessive dosage. You will also find oak, vanilla, brown sugar and spiciness on the delivery.
These also dominate the extended finish. There are reports that this is a sugar added rum.
In the line of single canes. Good strong rum. Yes not a sipping rum necessary. But if it’s rum, I sip it. In the house collection.
Very decent rum, easy to enjoy neat and on ice. Smooth and much better than the cheaper, standard offerings from Bacardi. Can be good in a mixer too of course. Quite a decent rum for the price.
Rhum que l'on m'a offert. Plutôt agréable à boire même s'il ne sort pas du lot. Un rhum que je n'aurais pas pensé acheter et qui se révèle plutôt facile à boire.
Nose: a lot of alcohol is right up front but if you get deeper into the glass there is some sweetness and butterscotch. Smell dissipates quickly.
Taste: starts of with a small burn that keeps going. Lots of spices in this one and some molasses. Coats your mouth with a pleasant sweetness. Full-bodied.
Finish: sweetness keeps lingering for a while. Ends with a slight intensifying burn while the sweetness remains.
Final: this is my go-to rum when a recipe calls for a gold Puerto Rican rum since it has better mouthfeel and more complexity than other column still rums. It is full-bodied and has a pleasant sweetness which also qualifies it to be a sipper. This is a good example of a rum that can be used for both purposes and would recommend to people that like a clean, relatively cheap and smooth rum.
Notes: added 3 drops of water. Also, I'm an inexpercienced taster so the details might be inaccurate, but it's still really enjoyable for my still-developing palate.
I enjoy Bacardi 8 reserve rums because they is is full bodied and smooth and it makes an excellent Cuba Libre. First add the ice (buy the ice melts slower -you find it at bed, bath & beyond), put the lime (green) to blend with the ice, then the Reserva 8 snd then the Coca Cola. Wonderful, we always repeat.....
It’s light, slightly floral. It’s quite a fresh nose with a lot of vanilla and light milk chocolate.
"There is a honeyed sweetness with this rum which does become a little cloying at times. That combines with a slightly bitter finish which becomes a touch over oaked."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
