Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

...in der ersten Sekunde. Wirklich etwas besonderes zum Genießen.
Couleur : Bronze attrayant
Nez : Premier nez floral et fruité, puis il libère des notes de vanille, de cacao et de chocolat au lait.
Palais : Les délicieuses notes boisées et de mangue témoignent de son âge avancé, résultat d'une longue maturation en fûts de chêne français.
Pleasant aroma, with a bit if a burn that mellows nicely. Hints of vanilla and dried fruit. Very smooth ovetall. Not as sweet as some latin styles, but balanced overall. A bit of a higher price tier, but worth it for a good sipping rum.
This is one of my most liked rums. The price range is a competitive one, with Zacapa, Diplomatico, El Dorado and others, but Plantation XO is a truly great sipping rum and value. Like other rums in the category, this rum is sweet, but is not too sweet (like the Diplomatico). The palate is rich and the finish is not too warm
Clean and superbly well rounded taste, not too sweet or too much burn. Slight banana and vanilla notes in my experience.
EDIT: Having tasted it again after experiencing a variety of rums, I have to take it down a level from 9 to 8. It still has the same notes, but now appears a bit too sweet and light on the palate. Still absolutely enjoyable and a great entry into the rum world!
This one has to be one of my fav rums out there, it has so much vanilla taste almost like sipping on candy!
IMO very underpriced rum and Def a banger for its current price!
Good stuff, Good price. Nice dry rum combine with a Cohiba sigar!
One of my favorite sipping rums. Rich flavor, slightly sweet, and very smooth. A bit expensive here in Japan, but as soon as I can afford it (and have space), I am picking up another bottle.
This is the type of rum you introduce to others and you can be confident you'll have a rum-convert at first sip.
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

Banány a vanilka. Perfektně vyvážený a jemný rum s příjemnou vůní. Dal bych 10, ale chybí mu něco výrazného, čím by víc zaujal.
