Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Complete mix of blends. Seems to have a lot to owe to its dual ageing. A rounded character without a burning aftertaste. One of my favourites.
I'm not a great fan of sweet rums. However what sets this at 7 is the aftertaste creamy feel. Don't get me wrong, it still is to sugary for me but the vanilla and somewhat dry coconut taste does well in disabusing excess sweetness.
It's a nice compliment to any desserts, and i would not turn it down if offered at the end of a lazy afternoon.
This is truly an amazing rum. Very smooth, and although there is a very noticeable vanilla and coconut flavor, it is not too sweet. Great for sipping neat. At $48 it is towards the top of my price range, but definitely worth the money. I try to save this and drink cheaper rums more regularly, but this is a rum I will always on stock. Absolutely one of my favorites and is probably worthy of a 10, but I don't give away perfect scores too easily.
Great sipper. Velvety mouthfeel. Slightly sweet with a nice nuttiness. My favorite rum so far.
I'm not fond of the nose. The coconut flavour is too strong for me.
The taste does it a lot more credit. Smooth, sweet, rounded. But again a bit too much coconut. Loong aftertaste.
I am a bit divided on this rum. I find if I ignore the coconut, this is a very good rum. I would probably buy it again, because it varies a bit from my normal taste.
This definitely wins the award for best designed packaging, and also for texture. It has a unique viscosity and almost seems to evaporate seconds within being moved around your palate. Only small points can be awarded for such features however... But when it comes to taste it does not disappoint, and delivers a distinction for those looking for variety in their collection. A high achiever all around.
I was attracted by the bottle! the content is ok but I did expect more from it, you could easy believe that the content is stored 20 years but it is not.
Choklad, vanilj, cocos, ek, kort sagt mycket gott i den här.
Flaskan i sej är riktigt elegant ochså
this is an amazing rum. So glad I was able to find a bottle. When I first poured it into my glass it pours like a honey liqueur. Smells of vanilla, spice, and cask waft to the nose. With a tilt of the glass legs galore reach back to the rest. After the first sip I am hooked. I will always have a bottle or two of this in my bar. It is all here, a complex balance I have not tasted in a rum before now. It is even better than my beloved Vizcaya.
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

Syrupy, rich and tangy. Odd, cloying liqueur taste can only be compared to the Plantation Original Dark. Apparently about 12 years old.
