Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Really smoot rum, get notes of dark chocolate and butter. There is a dominant coconut flavour, however this does not bother me at all. Can imagine that after a few glasses in a row the coconut can become a bit unpleasant. For a long time this was one of my favourites rum, but now I don't find it that interesting anymore and a bit too sweet.
However its great to get familiar with good rums at a reasonable price point.
Faldt ved et tilfælde over denne fantastiske rom, som omgående blev min favorit.
This rum will ruin most other rums for you going forward. Tremendous flavor and body with a lasting finish. Has, in my opinion, best presentation when left to breath for a few minutes.
Reasonably smooth and on the sweet side. For the price a descent bottle.
This is a real good rum, good taste and not that expensive, get it if you see it.
Rhum sympathique, un peu trop sucré mais agréable à boire
A very interesting rum as one finds. Starting with cane juice aged in bourbon casks and finished in cognac barrels. Adding an interesting character vindictive of a good agricole rhum. Low heat with decent finishing notes.
Ein wunderbar weicher und harmonischer Rum aus der Plantation Serie.
+ long time spicy and caramel taste, color, vanilla and "XO" flavor
- maybe more expected for Anniversary Rum, for me unbalance flavor, too much "something"
Despite recommended rum
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The bottle is incredibly heavy and large and wrapped in raffia. It has a very thick glass bottom, nice printing and labels. The stopper is made of a plastic cork imitation with a huge wooden handle with an inserted brass plate. A little overshoot.
The copper-brown rum has a tempting sweet caramel and oak smell, which will not disappoint. It is quite sweet, tastes of toffee and caramel, with lots of wood and oak. Ripe fruits and some leather add to tihs in a pleasant combination, Maybe also some chocolate and vanilla. Uncommon is the subtle coconut taste, which is a great addition to the aforementioned aromas. It has a quite long after taste and, all in all, is a complex combination and a great sip.
