Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Great rum, easily one of my favorites. Especially at its price point its one of my favorites bottles to have for special occasions.
Страхотно попадение за 40€. Заслужава си парите и трябва пак да се купи.
Bought this to share with a good friend. Smooth as silk in the mouth and during the swallow. No strong flovours or spice overtones. Smells and tastes like pure rum. Loved it and needless to say we finished the bottle.
One of my favourite rums for every moment. If you're looking for a quality rum for a good price, this is the one.
There always seems to be a 'but' when considering a popular rum that is known to have added sugar, especially if it's seen as a good sipper, and this one documents it with full disclosure on their website as 20 grams of sugar per liter. Plantation XO is noticeably sweeter when compared to some of its price-range competitors, but not to the degree where it might only be good for mixing.
The nose is sweet with a light spice and caramel, perhaps toffee. The palate is fruitier than the nose with a hint of vanilla and it quite an easy sipper with little to no alcohol burn. It's easygoing without being overly complex and sweet without being a sugar-bomb.
Hype: It more or less lives up to the hype and is one of a handful of rums that is a perfect introduction to sipping. It's well-rounded and balanced as a mixer as well, but at the price point of $50 these days (give or take), there are other Barbadian rums that will accomplish the same thing for far less money.
Watch out!!! There's flavoring in it. A bad example of premium rum. Obviously all these 8+ ratings are coming from those whom are just starting on this journey. Save your money and try other rums especially those under $50. I found Zaya 16yr old at $30 (1/2 price) to be the same style, flavor & sugarbomb. It's been over a year, maybe two since I had this. With all the great ratings on this site I decided to give it a go one more time. This is not what I remember. What happened? The flavor is so so off it's hard to believe it's actually rum and not some kind of after dinner cordial. So disappointed is all I can say. Going to be tough knocking this bottle off the shelf unless I use my foot! But, as tempted as I am, at $60 I will restrain and suffer! Never, ever again!
An XO in the same price range as Zacapa Centenario 23, Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva 12 Anejo and El Dorado Rum 12 YO🤩 Distinctive character. Familiar flavors of caramel, toffee, tobacco and dried fruit, but what sets it apart from the crowd is the aftertaste of coconut
Wunderful taste, special bottle, and beautiful cork
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

I do not like the taste of cocos in rum, so for me it got a 4, pity because the bottle looked beautifull
