Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

A very well balanced rum. Taste of coconut and other traditional rum flavors. A bit on the sweet side but well balanced. I wish I could afford to drink this all the time.
My top 3 favorite with Zacapa XO and Eldorado 15 years old, I love everything of it! Balanced flavors with vanilla, caramel, smoothness, impeccable!!!
Nice tasting blend, smooth, would recommend at this price, makes a good dark and stormy
Alright Iβll admit it!! As of late Iβve had a total hard on for Barbados Rums, and for good reason, they are good at their craft! I canβt wait to go there!
Plantation XO just glides down your throat, slightly warming your belly while providing a light and clean aftertaste of honey and coconut. The one thing though, this rum doesnβt seem to have much character to it. Itβs good if not great, but not incredible. To me, it needs more complexity to it in order to push it to the next level. Probably and 8.5 on the Joe scale.
Now I drink my third bottle an I enjoy it better than the first one.
It has really nice smooth and sweet aroma with a coconut and chocolate hint, very nice to sniff.
The taste is more complex than other in its price level, and it's not so sweet as it smells. The sweetness appears little bit later and then fades and the coconut and oak notes gets stronger in aftertaste, but still very pleasant to drink. The alcohol taste is very short and stays in a gentle way. Very nice sipping rum.
Everyone who likes rum or starts with drinking it should try this at least once, it's worth it.
Rum sweet and easy to drink, very flavored caramel with obvious notes of coconut. Very good value for money. This rum will appeal to both novices and connoisseurs palai sharpened.
Really really great! But I am afraid on the second place for my taste. I gave 8 points cause it is second in place and I keep the β10β empty because well, there too many rums for me to taste in the future
I'm new to rum and especially good rums, but this is amazing. The first time I tried it was in a nice tasting glass and the coconut and banana were very prominent. The aftertaste had so much complexity and lastest ages. I actually could not believe what I smelled and tasted and without any burn. The second time I drank the whole bottle with a friend and it was amazing yet another experience. The cognac notes really shined through especially without any water or ice and not letting the rum open up. The coconut was less prominent but came back with opening the rum up and it shined with a few drops of water added. The oakiness was on the backseat and the vanilla is more on the front. It has just everything you want in a rum. Surprisingly this time it had a nice little burn. Let's all hope Plantation keeps making these. Please do yourself a favour and get a bottle.
I'd never really been a rum drinker before, my only real experience being lambs navy rum or Bacardi. But after trying a sample of this I was blown away by how much different this stuff could be. I had to have a bottle & this is worth every penny. Talk about complex, you definitely get the vanilla and banana coming through strongly on the palate, with just a hint of the bourbon without overpowering any other flavours. I'm Definitely converted and every time I taste this It amazes me. Truly sublime.
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."
