Tasted July 14 2024 courtesy of Admiral Bill.
Appearance: gold
Aroma: vanilla
Flavor: vanilla and cloves and pepper
Notes: I don't actually enjoy this; the flavors taste rather synthetic. If they seemed natural... I'd probably enjoy this rum. And now I'm curious about what a good rum with vanilla and pepper notes would be like.
Arrgh! That be what you need after drinkin' this rum. Aye, she smells delightfully sweet, but that be where the fascination ends. As taste goes, she be a ghost ship. Not sweet, and barely any flavor to speak of, except maybe for a bit of black pepper. There be plenty of alcohol though! I ain't never had me teeth and gums on fire before. A couple of ships, sure... maybe a crew member or two, but never me teeth and gums! I'm givin' this rum two points: one because she smells pretty, and one because she be highly flammable...
On my way to checkout at one of my favorite liquor stores, I paused to see what kinds of rums they stock in their sampler baskets. Sadly, (and unfortunately all-too commonly) all the rum choices were less than appealing. But, like the true idiot I am, I scooped up one bottle each of those I'd yet to try. (Rum Ratings fodder?)
That being said, this pitiful offering of spiced rum is exactly what you'd expect from the 99-cent sampler basket. I'd describe this as weak and artificial tasting. Unlike other inexpensive surprise gems I've stumbled upon recently, this rum will not find a home in my liquor cabinet. As always, I like to enjoy my rum over ice with a healthy splash of Coke.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tasted on 7-14-24 in the nipper bottle thanks to Admiral Bill. Pours gold in color. How can a spiced rum have no aroma? Flavor is vanilla and black pepper. Yuck! A bargain at $1.
