8,5:The nose is rather balanced, with molasses, strongly roasted nuts, camphor and red fruits. Tangerine brings its bitterness and acidity, making for a rather lively finish. Over time, camphor and wax take on an increasingly medicinal quality. With time, the varnished wood comes to the fore. It is soft and warm, exhaling aromas of vanilla tobacco and nuts.
9:The palate is dry and astringent, as the sherry cask would suggest. Once again, camphor takes a large slice of the aroma cake. The profile is frankly medicinal, resinous and a little roasted. The blend is quite concentrated, with intense vanilla, ripe exotic fruit and resin, followed by a hint of cereal.
9:The finish is quite long and greedy, with exotic fruit and cherry pit, as well as a brioche-like character.
After the exceptional nose ot the baroko, I started hunting down other don papa products.
With prices through the roof (200-400 euros) I imported this one from France for a relatively cheap 70 euros. However, while the nose is very exciting, it does not manage to follow up taste-wise. Very strong and sharp alcohol taste and not smooth at all. Very disappointed and not worth the 70 euros and especially not worth collector prices.
The taste is artificial, boring and bad, perhaps the worst sherry based rum I've so far tried, 3 tiers below sherry master class such as Angostura No. 1 Olorosso, Papiamento Aruba, Baoruco 21y... Feel already sorry for anone who bought this good looking nothing collectibly or to drink like a couple of friends of mine... :) Don Papa truly is the worst taste "premium" brand nowadays
This rum is best rum for me. you can taste a wood wirh little sweetnes with tabacco esence
I had some of the Don Papas in my Bar, i get an offer 200 Euro for 2 Bottles, god price in the web ... but Bad for me ... i dont have the feeling, that the Ron leaves more then 2 Years in an normal oak, an a had no Feeling, that it wood be finishid in an Sherry Oak more than a Day .... it smells like Drinking an Ron like Havanna 7 Years mixed with a trop of Sherry ...
Gegenüber dem Don Papa Small Batch ist der SherryCask Fotoalbum überteuert und schmeckt in keiner Variante. Nicht pur oder on the rocks oder als Mix.
Not as refined as I initially thought, but not bad at all.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Weirdly artificial. A bit sweeter than I like. Strange aftertaste.
