Very recommendable! The were able to mix the tastes of rum and whiskey very well. They blend greatfully in this bottle.
It does have a nice flavor. I was skeptical when given this bottle as other rums from Oliver have been overly sweet. This one might have some additives but is not as noticeable as their other rums. You can feel some of the Tomatin influence. I would love more transparency about the details of the rum, and their website is very mute on that.
Nice taste up front with no burn and just a little more sweetness than I want. Great finish.
Clear, scent of molasse and vanilla.
Taste of maple syrup, caramel and light taste of whisky. Great for dessert. I would prefer a bit less sweet.
Testing package from Punta Cana. Drink it in Dominican Republic and was wow nice, smooth. There is a little sweet, like a lot of sun and fruits. It is very nice I like it so much.
WAY too much of the cherry, fig, plum in the taste and aroma for me. It does however beat another Oliver & Oliver - Opthimus 25 year which is double the price. At least this rum has a bit of whiskey bite and kick to it. Not sure what the sugar content is after distillation but I am probably better off not knowing. But still will give a 7 out of respect. If you are looking for a dark fruit rum with a bit of whiskey kick then go for it. It really is not bad at all. I just bought it without being aware of what the really dominate flavors were.
Nice, clear colour, sweet smell with cinnamon, and whiskey. Its taste is not as sweet as other Oliver rums. Allspice, quinceand and melasse and whiskey is noticable. Its aftertaste is strong. Pretty good rum for this price especially.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did, as I generally don't care too much for whisky aged rums. But I started out with a comparison between this and the Punta Cana XOX, and I really struggled to pick a winner. Ultimately, I chose this one, as it was a tad smoother and just as sweet, even with the whisky aging. I found the XOX to be a bit harsher, as I mentioned in my original review of that.
Smells and tastes of molasses, vanilla, spice, and a hint of whisky, but not so much whisky as to be overpowering. It's actually an amazing value and I highly recommend it!
