Mount Gay Eclipse rum is produced from molasses that is double distilled and aged up to 2 years in white Kentucky oak ex bourbon barrels.
Mount Gay is the oldest existing rum brand in the world, with it's oldest surviving deed being from 1703. The company developed the use of traditional double copper pot stills, a process that has been in continuous use by Mount Gay ever since its founding. The company's namesake Sir John Gay Alleyne was a good friend of John Sober who purchased the then Mount Gilboa distilleries in 1747.

This rum is an under-achiever. It's only mediocre, with no remarkable qualities to speak of. Regardless of what it costs where you live, you can find something better for the same price. There is nothing offensive about it, unless you're offended by blandness.
I was a bit disappointed when i first tasted this one but have found that it´s good in cocktails.
Easy drinking sipper, one ice cube is perfect. Great value for money. A must have in any home bar.
Disclaimer: First "real" rum I tried so I'm new to identifying the different aromas.
Tastes good mixed with cola and it's really affordable as I purchased for only €19.95. Tried it as a sipper but it initially hit me with the alcohol scent and taste.
I'm sure this makes a decent mixer. Perfectly average. I may play around with this one in cocktails once I start running out of other bottles.
Tastes like a bourbon for me. I couldn’t find the typical sugar cane or molass notes… its not bad though.

Nehladajte tam ziadne siroke spektrum chuti.
V arome prevlada alkoholovost, rovnako aj v chuti. Ale staci ho nechat chvilu vyvetrat a je to super pitie za 12-16€
Ale asi by som sa mal ku nemu niekedy vratit na druhu ochutnavku.
This is the rum that made me realize $20 can take you much further with this spirit than any other. Further rum sipping made me realize that $30 can take you 10x further than Eclipse ever could. I've drank enough for one lifetime, so I don't revisit it much.

Chuť: Hm...tak blbě nejen voní, ale i chutná. Citrusy, nakyslost, suchost, dřevnatost a seno. (72 b)
Body: 72/100
Shrnutí: Ochutnáno při posezení s kamarádem v českolipském Baru/Kavárně Kocour. Je to takové nijaké, dřevité, hodně slabý zážitek, ale rum to asi připomíná. To v Božkově umějí z náhražek udělat lepší pití.
