Dominican Republic | Aged | 40% ABV
Matusalem Gran Reserva 15-year rum is produced using a combination of rums aged on average 15 years and distilled from molasses using the solera process.
The Matusalem company was established in 1872 originally in Santiago de Cuba. The company fled the country following the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and the Gran Reserva rum is now produced in the Dominican Republic.

Bra vardagsrom som faktiskt är riktigt prisvärd om man köper den utomlands.
This is incredible for the value perspective... Really nice in flavour not deeo bit never going to be as considered a cheap rum
Sabores dulces aroma fuerte rico para convinar con coca
I think this is a smooth rum both for sipping straight and for mixing with ginger beer and lemon.
And use it in a rum and coke. I had heard positive things from fellow Pirates but didn't quite do it for me.
I love the solera system and this 15yo has loads of toffee notes that work well with the tiniest splash of ginger beer.
výtečný rum, doporučuji pro ty co mají rádi suché rumy. V akci se dá teď koupit za 450 Kč. trochu bych ho přirovnal ke koňaku. Jemný, trochu ostrý, krásně voní
Whether you toss it on the rocks or mix it up, Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 year is a fairly light and easy to drink rum with mild complexity. This is a rum to share with your close friends or welcome to guests.
Har netop købt denne flaske. Har ikke smagt den endnu. Har hørt den er lettere at gå til end storebror 23 års.
Smooth and very well blended.
"The aftertaste is quite spicy and hot. Not in an alcohol burn way."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is a very drinkable rum. It is not complex. A hint of Caramel is the strongest feature. You will notice the alcohol smell. For me the smell was stronger than the taste. It is not a particularly sweet rum (I don't think a lot of sugar has been added - a big topic elsewhere on this site recently). It is also not a dry rum, so you don't get the heavy oak that pushes some rums closer to bourbons, either. Personally, for a few dollars less I'd select a bottle of Bacardi 8 (which has a more complex range of flavors) or Zaya (which is much sweeter and heavier on the vanilla. But make no mistake, if I received this as a gift, it would enthusiastically be put to good use!
