Malibu Coconut Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and blended with coconut and sugar. The brand is owned by one of the world's largest spirits producers, Pernod Ricard.
Currently produced in Canada, Malibu Coconut rum was originally made in Curaçao from fruit spirits flavored with coconut and rum. The original recipe was developed as a shortcut for bartenders making Piña Coladas, however today the stands on its own.

I've been drinking this since forever, half the time without not knowing it, since this is probably the favorite bar staple for making Hawaiian drinks. Good enough, but would l-o-v-e to see an organic version on the market, especially now that coconut water and milk have become such the rage with the vegan yoga crowd recently.
Is this my 18 year old self thinking it is so much better than it really is....or is it my 60 year old self just enjoying the taste of coconut more than the mainstream and supporting Canadian product. regardless, the trip down memory lane is leading me to better rated coconut flavored rums
I do not like coconut based drinks so sadly this does nothing for me and I avoid it
The year is 1995 - You just watched Cocktail for the first time. A Bay Breeze sounds surprisingly delicious. You spring for the pseudo-Caribbean rum named after a city in California. All is good. 4 Stars.
I rate it only because it is in the database and i had drank it in several occasions in the past. in my humble opinion i am surprised this is called and regarded as Rum. even though it is a rum product this one ventures too much into the sweetened liquors category, i guess since the definition of what is rum is not very strict such sweet abominations can be regarded as rum.
as for the Malibu Coconut itself. i understand it's a top selling, easy to drink, happy alcoholic beverage. it is tasty and i can understand the reason for it's popularity. if i wasn't a diabetic i guess i wouldn't say no from time to time. however in it's current formulation this product is dangerous due to it's high sugar content. i am rating it 3/10 as it is a known and a whole fully released product with it's market share. it is not going to be developed and will stay in it's niche of popularity as easy drink.with the word RUM in it's name. i am trying to be fair, since it's not a gasoline or barely drinkable as the 2/10 rating suggests i gave it the higher rating. however. i will be happy if Pernod Ricard would offer this or very similar product based on 40% alcohol Rum. (but not the classic 35% spiced rum with added sugar formula as the Malibu Black).
I don't do reviews....Just want to keep up with my drinking problem....

I use this one in a easy mixer with pineapple juice! It's low rum rate and strong coconut taste makes it taste like your on holiday...
