Havana Club Añejo Especial is a blend of rums aged for up to five years produced from the fermented molasses of sugar cane harvested in Cuba. The molasses is combined with yeast and water, distilled using column stills, and aged in white oak barrels.
Havana Club was founded in 1878 by Jose Arechabala and later nationalized after the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

Un ron decente para mezclar y muy buena opción para el cuba libre.
This rum was a bit too harsh for me straight up and it has a pretty strong smell too. It works well for making a good Cuba Libre though.
I payed €17 for this bottle and it confirms that you get what you pay for. Want a nice rum sipping experience? To paraphrase mr. Kenobi: "this is not the rum you're looking for".
Nothing special, but taste is good for this budget. Especially when you wait a few minutes the rum will blend with oxygen and the taste gets softer (less alcohol taste).
Another rum from HC that's easy to drink.
I don't get the same alcohol smell that most people seem to mention with this rum. Maybe a little vanilla.
It's got a really good colour, good legs and I don't find it too harsh when over ice.
Would make a great mixer, though I've not tried that yet.
All in all a "every day rum", that should suit most tastes.
Picked it up today, on offer in Tesco, £15.
Good taste, and but aftertaste is medium hard, dry, first opinion was more negative after Brugal Anejo, but next day I ve discovered this rum from another side, overall good
A bit more tasty than the 3yr. Would reccomend for mixing not spping
Strong alcohol smell but has a beautiful deep color. The first sip gives a strong deep sugar taste with a lot of aroma in your mouth.
The aftertaste is a bit strong but the sweetness prevails quickly after it.
Overall a nice rum that is a bit to sweet for me.
First Havana which is possible to drink without non-alcoholic drink. But with this price is still ok to make Cuba-Libre from it.
a Special taste, very good for mixing with coke. good Ron

Some oaky spicy notes.
"It’s very heavy with vanilla and the caramel and brown sugar notes are too much. The rum is quite smooth and not very rough."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Acidic, fruity smell. Flavour quite balanced but light, a bit dull. Not much to complain about but not the best either.
