Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.
Havana Club rum is still made in Cuba - where the company was founded by José Arechabala in 1878 and then nationalized in 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. Havana Club is now jointly owned by Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.

I found this rum to be thin and just plain awful. Artificial alcohol-like taste. Like someone added turpentine or rubbing alcohol to what this was MEANT to be. Made me sad this was actually labelled "rum". Anyone who likes it is welcome to have it.
As a stand alone, it is to much tobacco and smoke, but with cola it is not so bad
I like almost all cuban(styled) rums, but seldom do I love a cuban rum. But I do admire the Havana Club line-up, you can understand why it is so ubiquitous. They are solid, slightly masculine rums with bold flavours that are delivered quite harmoniously though. You will encounter liquorice, aniseed, tobacco, wood and leather in virtually any cuban rum, but in this rum they are even stronger. Therefore it is not for everybody. Personally I think the flavours are a little too condensed. I prefer the younger Anejo Especial which is a little bit more playful and vibrant. The rum tastes older than the label suggests. Maybe because - as I was told in Cuba - the Cubans base their age-statements on the youngest rum in the blend, meaning a "7 year old" Cuban can actually be older than a "23 year old" Solera-style rum.
Sugar 5 GPL. I tried this one at a tasting event and I was quite surprised. Great aroma and the taste is better than I expected in an economy rum. For tastes I found some wood, chocolate, caramel, and spice. Overall very smooth and no harsh aftertaste or burn.
Not to my liking for a sipping rum, but with an ice cube it could work. As far as a dark mixing rum, this is up there with the best. A rating of 7 is as high as I give for a mixing rum. Next time I need to replenish the mixing rum part of my bar, this will be on the list.
Smooth, nice aroma a little bit vanilla, chocolate. Great with premium coctails...
Another birthday gift from a friend, (I can see a pattern here) quite a nice rum but on its own it is a bit harsh but add a mixer and it's easier on the throat.
Really good in Cuba Libre, for sure i will buy it again cause of taste and not big price for it. I guess it was the best Cuba Libre in my rum adventure yet
Havana Club Añejo 7 Años has a dazzling and clear mahogany colour...

'caramel, cane sugar, and a bit of cinnamon character in the finish'

Their is a creamy/buttery vanilla like smell oak, dry tobacco and smokiness.
"It’s very hot, spicy and very bitter. Luckily the burn isn’t bad and very short. Subsequent sips are much smoother."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
