The 151's are getting a bit hard to find; just ran into this in NH. A delicious twist on the original Goslings Black Rum that is drier and yet carries the deep rum flavours. A huge step beyond the Bacardi 151 (bad rum+lighter fluid). Can't wait to try this in any number of tiki drinks!!
I am a fan of Goslings Black Seal 80 proof, so I decided to go one step further and try my first overproof. Expectations: I thought that spirit of that content of alcohol would burn my insides immediately, so imagine my surprise after first sip when not only it did not melt my stomach, but also I could taste very pleasant flavours on the palate (even though it's 75,5%!). Definitely good choice, this rum turned my Dark'n'Stormy truly into a stormy cocktail.
After enjoying the 'regular' version of this dark rum I thought I'd try this 151 version. It's nice but not quite as smooth as some other 151's I've sampled.
Strong but smooth. Chocolate dark fruits .......................................................................
This 151 rum works great as a float in tropical cocktails. You can also have it as a sipper but I'd rather have an OFTD in my glass.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Where is the lovely smell of Dark Seal? 151 is much more alcoholic and much less aromatic, in drinks it's just a % filler (trying it solo is unpleasant, I completely don't understand how some people wrote it is good sipper). Avoid it and buy 40 % version.
