If you want something extra strong and you can drink it without mixing, this Plantation O.F.T.D. 69% ideal choice. I tried Pussers British navy 55%, price similar, but Plantation is better.
Pokud chcete něco extra silného a ještě k tomu se to dá pít i bez míchání, je tento Plantation O.F.T.D. 69% ideální volba. Zkoušel jsem Pussers British navy 55%, cena podobná, ale Plantation je lepší.
I'm not sure why this product is listed as "dark" (yes, I understand what O.F.T.D. stands for) when its claim to fame is being overproofed but no matter. This is a good drinking experience despite it being lightning (over 130 proof.) It smells decent, tastes good, is smoother than you'd expect and is surprisingly palatable on the rocks. When I think of Bacardi 151 and it's awful flavor and horrendous heat, this is the product that I think of when I say overproofed rum CAN be good! It's perfect for any mixed drink that needs more kick and great on its own. This is one of my four essential rum bottles I keep on hand at all times. You should buy this immediately if you have an at home bar.
Not much to say that hasn’t been written here. Great rum and great for mixing
This is an excellent overproof. Might be the best overproof I have ever tried. Nice nose. Beautiful color. Has some serious whisky characteristics. Smooth. Nice body. Great bite. Finish is short but fluid and has a Smokey element. Very good stuff.
Visited Stockholm’s greatest Rum bar, Cane Rum Society, just one year old. It’s said that they have around 1500 different bottles.
I have long thought that I should buy me an O.F.T.D., but now I’m glad I didn’t. It reminds me a little of Overproof Hampden, but not as nearly as good.
The content comes from Barbados (W.I.R.D., I suppose), Guyana (PM) and Jamaica (Maybe Hampden, but I don’t know). It’s molasses based and both column still and pot still rum is in it.
The nose of quite intense and I think I recognized coffee and orange.
On the palate it’s a little bit smoky and I detected caramel, chocolate, hints of vanilla and some spiciness.
The finish is quite long and goes on in the same direction.
Overall I must say that it reached far from my expectations. I believe it should be used as a mixer.

Sometimes when tasting a blended rum it’s hard to decipher what the blender was aiming for, but there is certainly no question here. Similar to Plantation’s 3 Stars, I can pick out the individual notes that exemplify the juices that go into this blend. The pungent ripe funk of Jamaica, the vanilla and fruity sweetness of Barbados, and the dry oaky richness of Guyana.
Oh, and did I mention its 138 PROOF?!
The first couple of sips are like your whole mouth being stabbed by a thousand tiny needles (in a good way?), but once you are acclimated to the proof the wonderful character of this run is revealed.
Will not disappoint.
Insane amount of flavour from this rum. Tried it neat and it was really good but a little hot so added a few drops of water and bingo! This is a great bang for your buck.
Nice strong bold taste ... high percentage rum, make sure not to make your drink too strong :-)
It really is that good. Not something to give someone neat. But floating and in small doses, it's incredible. Lots of hogo. Lots of funk. Wonderful.
It’s very intense, almost sickly sweet.
"It’s a sweet yet almost bitter, molasses heavy nose."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
