This rum can make some excellent cocktails and can also double as a great sipping rum. You get some caramel and toffee. I love Appleton and I love this Rum
Well balanced fairly sweet and fruity, with a good level of funk. Probably one of the best rums for anyone looking to get into Jamaican rums.
Always on the hunt for value rums. I don't know about anyone else but my budget demands I find alternatives to the pot still rums I most enjoy, so I saw this on special at £28.
Smell is baked apples, caramel, butter, toffee, with a rich fruity sweetness rising up on the fumes.
Taste is not rich at first, but all the above comes up, along with a touch of funk before the fieryness lifts up astringent wood and molasses, with ling burn and lingering dry finish.
As its opening up, a few more layers are coming through, and it's making for an extremely drinkable dram. And at this price, for me only Chairman's Reserve Original compares for quality and depth.
It strikes me this is a bit like a poor man's Clarendon. I love those, but at less than half the price, I can see this entering my regular rotation.
A solid, flavorful rum at a decent price point. It's not overly sweet and is smooth enough to sip. Not amazing, not bad, just a decent rum.
Decent rum, decent sipper, especially for the price. Jamaican funk present, but not very strong. This is the second Appleton Estate rum that I have tried, but I liked the 12 year old one much better.
Surprisingly spicy on the tongue. Strong notes of black pepper and oaked heat.
"Has a lovely smooth entry which quickly heats up. The initial notes of pineapple and dark almost to ripe banana give way to spicy heat. The flavours linger and coat the taste buds with hot spice."

Love the curvy Appleton bottles. Fruity aroma but no funk. Fruity flavor with semi-strong alcohol burn.
