If you are looking for a strong rum, this it a good option. It is dry and it makes you feel the alcohol which is made of. You can use as a sipping rum if you are looking for harsh sensation. Worth to try!
For reasons I don't know they sell this often for (almost) the same price like the 12yo in Germany and sometimes even for a higher price, what is really odd. Since I wasn't very impressed by the 12yo I guess the 8yo won't be better...
I guess I'm just not a fan of the Jamaican style of rums. I will never stop trying something new if they get reasonable reviews and ratings, but I have had many better.
a prefect mixing rum one of the best ive yet to try
I usually prefer neat spirits but this good with mixer .I would definitely for 12-year
For quite a big price difference, I found it at most only slightly better than the V/X. It is sippable, but better mixed. I didn't try it on ice. One thing I don't understand is how Flor de Cana 7 can be rated the same; I found it pretty much undrinkable, even mixed.
I found it to be a little harsh on its own, as others have said it is fine with a little mix.
Appleton Estate 8 year is ok for sipping if you've no other options, but it's really just a rum for mixing good drinks.
using it for "good" friends instead of the VX in mixes
Surprisingly spicy on the tongue. Strong notes of black pepper and oaked heat.
"Has a lovely smooth entry which quickly heats up. The initial notes of pineapple and dark almost to ripe banana give way to spicy heat. The flavours linger and coat the taste buds with hot spice."

Great Jamaican quality. Not so good as 12 years old, but still good.
