Man. This stuff. It smells like butterscotch and grass, and tastes like....candy and leather and grass and coconut and...everything. Maybe one of the most perplexing, layered rums I've tried.
Distilled in 2003, bottled at a perfect 44.8%. My bottle is number 0417. If I were to make a rum cake I just might take the plunge and use this, but then again it's just too good not to sip. The nose is flat out lovely, pound cake, vanilla oak without the bourbon and a slight whiff of orange. In the mouth it's equally lovely with a densely rich linger. Pepper, leather, licorice, mocha toffee.... absolutely fantastic.
I'm going back to get another bottle of this while it's still available.
Strange feeling after tasted this rum, it's a very nice agricole rum with flavor of banana and coconut. The sugar cane is not too present and the woody flavor is pleasant but it's like the rum is locked up and refuses to express himself. Nice vanilla note on the finish. Real rate : 7,5
It's strong and a little bit too alcohoolic but it's ok. Great flavour, long aftertaste, fine notes of dried fruits.
Fruity, notes of stewed prunes and baked apples.
"It has a nice sweetness – good amount of caramel and a little toffee."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
