Unique bottle for C. M. and a deep dark colour. Light nose with moderate alcohol smell. The taste is alcohol and fresh molasses with a short finish. Mixed with coke it is very nice and has enough flavour to stand up.
For something different I thought I would give Captain Morgan Deluxe Dark Rum a taste. In other reviews, I have mentioned that Captain Morgan dark rum is a satisfactory rum for a cocktail but not as a stand alone rum. This product is the same. If mixing with cola or in a cocktail it works. For drinking neat or over ice, I’ll pass. The bottle is fancy though. I am not in college on a budget. I can afford a more expensive rum. Life is too short to drink cheap rum. Reach for the top shelf.
I prefer to drink rum with cola. This is my "go-to" rum. I find it pleasant, easy to drink, a little bit sweeter than some (and I do have a sweet tooth). I will have to try this on the rocks and see what I think of that.
A slight step above the regular Cp'n Morgan Dark, and what I'd likely keep on hand for cheap sipping rum, as I'm a fan of molasses smell and taste.
That being said, there's not much body; it's molasses flavoured alcohol and not much else.
I think I prefer Screech as a cheap rum, but I like Jamaican styles the best anyway
Best Captain Morgan I've ever had. Molasses flavour heavy with some caramel and a hint of chocolate and pepper. Smooth for a Morgan and in my mind you cant go wrong with the molasses flavour. My personal goal is now to finish the bottle by the end of the week. Cheers!
The nose is nice, with wood, molasses and baking spices. It’s simple but quite pleasant! The palate is non-descript, with mild sweetness over top a molasses note, but pretty quickly in, an alcohol bite and burn appears that stays on the finish. It’s not a “black pepper” quality but one of alcohol heat. It’s rather harsh. This is probably quite passable as a mixer but that heat and burn excludes it from being a serious sipper. On account of the nice nose, I’m going to rate this as a 5 instead of 4.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Not for everyone but I like the molasses so I'm a fan.
