Notes of leather and banana. Maple on the tongue, changing to sweet brown sugar. A bit sweet but fabulously smooth. This 10 year is a wee bit more expensive than most but delivers without being run of the mill.
It's a well balanced palet of flavours, but to me it's a bit lacking in depth
Smoky, oaky, and spicy, with a dark molasses undertone that makes this a wonderful taste at the end of an evening. Pairs well with a cigar.
It is nothing extraordinary, but also not disappointing.
Very light on the aroma but slightly sweet smell. It has a punch of flavor at the beginning that ends very abruptly and finishes smooth.
nice and smooth taste, nothing over the top complex but good everyday sipper
It is a 40% ABV rum from the island of Antigua with a minimum age of 10 years. The rum has been aged in bourbon and whisky barrels.
Bottle: Classic, nothing special.
Colour: Honey, slightly cloudy.
Aroma: Smoke and fresh wood. Slight technicality and resin, furniture polish. Also green flowers and coconut.
Mouth: Very watery at first. It is a very dry to bitter rum. There was burnt wood, whisky malt and coffee in the taste.
Finish: Medium long with a tartness on the tongue.
Summary: Quite disappointing. Mostly the wateriness and bitterness. All in all, not a very good rum. I don't know if it was a particular batch or if it's standard. I'll try to taste it again and then edit the review if I do.
Rating: 5.5 out of 10
at 40% abv, on the nose no burn (and this is good), some toffee, vanilla,
in the mouth same plus some melassa, but is very smooth, so smooth that i suspect its
for additives (less than 15 grams in the 5 year EH but still to much for my taste),
why i saying so ? because sweetened alcohol it s easier to drink ...
you lose the burn on the nose and drink it easier (smooth) just in the mouth it s
sugary sweet, various aromas lost, the rum become dull, mono dimensional ...
done an experiment in my bar some years ago, gave a shot of Drambuie
(whisky honey liquor, 40% ABV) to 3 girls (in their twenties),
with an ice cube, they tried it for the 1st time and saying wow it s veeery good !
after this i offered them a glass of rum (also 40% ABV), and they said to me: no, no,
this is too strong for us ...
it s expensive probably because they have to buy production materials from Guyana
and Dominican Republic while other brands are self producing them ...
but i paid this bottle 85 euro, it s not the right price for the quality, very disappointed !

today, after 7 days i tried it again alone, last time was drinking it along with EH 5, and i
admit a mistake, this rum is really dry, no sugar added, you feel even some little bitternes in the mouth, from 5 i ll raise the rating to 7, contrary to the EH 5 this one is drinkable,
but again i have to say that 85 euro can bring me better rum and even solid single malts
older than 10 years
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I had the EH 5 quite a few times and felt it punched above its weight class. The 10 is radically different from the 5 or most any rum Iβve had. Very powerful hit of Pineapple in the nose (which subsides substantially in a bit of time) but a very pleasant medium bodied Rum. Weird, but surprisingly pleasant.
