Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

I had this at the Montego Bay airport in Jamaica mixed with coke. The rum had a nice taste that come through the cola but didn’t over power or burn. Very smooth.
I like the nose and initial taste with a nice oaky and almost smokey flavor profile, and there is some other things going on, but it all faded pretty quick to me. So its ALMOST very good as a sipper, but doesn't have the staying power for me. But its good as a mixer in certain drinks. Maybe I have to try a different bottle as my experience with it was not like most of the descriptions and reviews I've seen.
Bought it because it seemed good value, based on its ratings and because it was measured on different websites for added sugar and it had none. Tastes good but not great. Wouldn't use it as a gift or when I have guests but perfect for a glass after a long day.
Я не понимаю откуда такой рейтинг у этого рома. Возможно мне попался контрафакт. Но это хуже чем какой-то дешманский бакарди
Dobre, dobre estrewo. Ładne aromaty. 8!

This rum is incredibly smooth for the price range. Fantastic flavor, a little less nuance that Real McCoy 12 year, but significantly less bite. This can be a sipper which is rare for a $40 dollar rum, but isn't as full as something more expensive.

The rum offers a lot of smoky spiced oak flavour.
"A nice note of cocoa and a little hint of vanilla. The rum is smooth yet spicy offering a nice kick. The finish is long and complex leaving a lot of flavour behind to savour."

This is fairly dry but with a wonderfully complex flavor profile. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of the funk /hogo taste that is typical of many Jamaican rums. The Appleton 12 year does have a hint of that, but it is well balanced with other flavors. If you want a similar quality without hogo, I would highly recommend Mount Gay XO.
