Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

Absolute staple in my rum cabinet. Never go wrong with a glass of this dark beauty
If you are a whiskey drinker then this is the rum for you. Lots of oakey undertones and a smokey strength that comes from blending aged rums that taste older than 12 years. Not to my taste, but I'm not a whiskey drinker so ..............
I prefer smoother and sweeter rums, so this is just not my style. It's dry, strong, has very specific and long aftertaste (I somehow really feel apples !).
63/100
This is a very nice go to rum for daily sipping. I would not use it as a mixer. Not too sweet and great hints of oak and some classic Jamaican flavors.
Quality, Jamaican Rum. Dry, wood, delicious rum. Makes a great mixer.
Fruity, oaky representation of both pot and column still rums aged from 12-30 years. Master distiller Joy Spence and her protégés have created a nice Jamaican rum to be enjoyed neat or in a cocktail, though I would advise using a cheaper rum for cocktails.
Really smooth... Don't taste sugar/sweet at all. Certaintly a rum for people who loves cognac. Very clean. More an after dinner rum.
Not my style....but good rum and worth to try....rather strong flavor of oak and smoky.

The rum offers a lot of smoky spiced oak flavour.
"A nice note of cocoa and a little hint of vanilla. The rum is smooth yet spicy offering a nice kick. The finish is long and complex leaving a lot of flavour behind to savour."

As Jamaican rums go, this is a good bet. Good next or as a mixer. Starts off stiff when drunk neat but with nice aromas post first sip. Smoothe with coke and very good with orange juice and lots of crushed ice.
