El Dorado 12-Year rum

El Dorado 12-Year

Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

I've only gone through 3 bottles as a sipper...this, Diplomatico reserve ex. and ron zacapa 23 solera. This in my opinion was somewhere in between. Really smooth while still having decent flavors/sweetness and just the right amount of alcohol burn. I passed it around to my friends and g/f who all said i was crazy for my new love for drinking rum warm in a wine glass, but after convincing them all to try they were all hooked and enlightened like me. Cant wait to compare it to the 15 year.

I tasted a bit of smoked something in the mouth. The nose was not to my liking .. it first smells like nail polish then it smells like sweet molasses then again back to a acetone aroma. The taste was that of a el Dorado older brother but with the young age shinning thru with the burn and thinness. I hate to say it but the other reviews were right. After 3 years of being a none believer and trying it for myself. Everyone should try them all once in a lifetime before choosing the 15 yr lol. Enjoy

Ordered the package with the two glasses.
Like the glasses and the rum very much!!

It's my second rum i bought, first one was appleton 12 years. First one, good rum, but like i little more sweet. This one, defenitly more sweet but there's a small part i don't like.. Hard to explain... Maybe the smell or the aftertaste.. But still.. Good rum for me

Full of flavour, prefer it more without ice, neat. With only one icecube you lose a lot of flavour.

I love this rum! It has a great aroma, the Carmel and molasses flavers are right up my alley. I didn't want swallow it because of how great it tasted in my mouth. Very smooth. My wife likes it neat as well and is a fan of the flavours. The only regret is I will have to always have a bottle on hand.

A properly Great rum. Packaging is great, feels and looks more expensive than it really is, specially with that nice cork cap. Smells sweet and enticing. Flavor is great, vanilla with a dried fruit after taste. Feels thick and oily and quite smooth. Drink this by itself or with ice. Mixing it would probably just ruin it.

Completely different from the 8yr. The 12 is just sweeter, thicker and smoother.

Demerara distillery has produced some fine rums over the years. Their 12 year rum is no exception. Smooth and sweet with the right amount of heat. Nice squat bottle presentation sets the stage for a nice rum to be enjoyed neat or on the rocks.

Don't get me wrong this rum is good, which is why I gave it a 7, but with all the added sugar I feel as though there are better rums at this same price point. I got this on sale for $30, normally it would run about $34 in my area, if I'm paying that much I'll throw the extra dollars for some Bumbu or up it $15 for the Plantation XO 20th anniversary.

This had always been a favourite from the start but there are a good few to beat it.
It is a great sipping rum. Sweet with lovely flavours.

Vůně intenzivní (marcipán, vanilka, čokoláda, káva?). Trochu štiplavý dojezd a alkoholový ocásek snižuje moje hodnocení na 8, spíš bych to ale viděl na 8,5. V dané cenové kateorii (lze sehnat kolem 600,-) je to, myslím si, jeden z těch nejlepších rumů. Určitě bych chtěl do budoucna vyzkoušet 15 letou verzi a především 21 letou verzi, která má velmi dobré recenze.
