El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Strong scent, somewhat chemical but very sweet and intriguing. Sips smooth to the tongue, not too harsh, but very creamy. The taste is a wee bit too sweet for me, but very likable. It's an easy drinking rhum you can enjoy for a whole night. It has a strong hint of honey, which is probably a large reason for the sweetness to it
El Dorado 12 YO jsem dostal na bar jako dárek od dodavatele. Neznal jsem produkty této destilérky a tak plný očekávání jsem se vrhnul do objevování :-D. Dobrá volba, musím říct. Příjemně ostrý a lehce sladký. Ovocné podtóny a krásná barva v krásné láhvi. To je to oč tu běží. Dobrý rum na večerní blbnutí za chalupou.
Very nice smell, very good taste, all kinds of tastes going on. Like this one as a sipper, but also works great in tiki drinks.
I actually like this one better than the 15 year, I think this one has a really good value. Especially since it's not too expensive.
It's dark, creamy sweet rum, great for the price, for me better then Diplomatico RE. Nice sipper for beginners.
I really like this rum, mixed or not, I like the sugary after taste that it gives whit every sip.
This is really an excellent rum. It comes close to Diplomático but it's a little sweeter and not quite as complex on the palate. I'd rate it 8.5.
Rich, smooth and taste 12yo demerara. Quite sweet and a good value for money.
If you like sweet rums, this is a great choice. Nice, well-balanced flavors with a lot of sweetness. However, on the nose this rum is not that good. It smells like the cheaper rums with quite a strong smell of alcohol.
I have to agree with many reviews that put this rum above the 15 year variant. The experience started with removing the cork. The aroma was wonderful, and after taking a small sip, the taste was just as good. Probably sweeter than some would like but perfect for my taste. It's in my top 3 now.

Sweet and smooth. This was one of my first aged rums purchased and I have enjoyed it off and on for a few years. I need to search for it whenever I run out but still available.
