Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

This was my first sipping rum. I do enjoy it, but not as much as let's say the 15 year old one. It's a Nice rum, sweet, smooth to drink, and a Fine rum to drink in the evening before going to bed.
Bought a bottle and could not finish it. I wanted to like it. But it was not balanced. I tasted smoky or burnt caramel.
Satte, goldbraune Farbe. Ölige Schlieren.
Esternoten, Rumpflaumen und Klebstoff in der Nase.
Süß, alkoholisch, beides bestens eingebettet. Viel Körper. Dörrobst und Mandeln am Gaumen. Im Nachhall würzig, intensiv, leicht herb. Langer Abgang.
Im Glas bleibt ein süß-fruchtig-würziger Geruch nach Dörrpflaumen zurück.
Schöne Farbe, angenehme Süße. Weich und vollmundig.Smooth!
When I first got this, I didn't really know much about rum and sipping rums. Rums had always been mixed with cola, or Ginger and most of this bottle went down that way. Oh the shame. It wasn't until the bottle was almost empty that I tried it neat, and it was amazing. Delicate, not much burn, fruity overtones. I need another bottle to better appreciate it.
Good sipping rum. One of the better ones. Aroma is pleasant and it has a very smooth taste and finish.
I really enjoy this rum mixed with Coke. So far it is the best rum I've found for a cuba libre! It creates a nice froth and a sweet, but not too sweet, flavor different than other rum around the same price. For sipping this rum is good if you're looking for a cheap sip rum. Personally I prefer to pay an extra and get a Mount Gay oreven better a Diplomatico Old Reserva!
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...

I’m not great at reviewing, but this rum, on the rocks, is fine any time of the year.
