Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Having already tasted the 3, 5 and 15, I thought it would be about time, that I had a go with the most common of the El Dorado rums.
Nose: Brown sugar, tobacco and a slight oaky whiff in the end
Taste: Brown sugar, honey, vanilla and some oak in the short and sweet aftertaste
Overall: This rum is fine. It is nothing mindblowing and to sweet for my likings, but it is a good entry rum for newer rum drinkers and it should get some merit for that.
Sapore ci caramello iniziale, cioccolato finale.
Absolutely perfect. Tasted very good, price very good.
Easy to drink, for beginners a good choice because low price.
This is one of the best rums I have tasted. It has a light tase and a lingering finish. Slightly fruity aroma. I don’t think it is overly sweet.
I feel that this is an excellent sipping rum. The noise is heavy with a molasses carmel note that pleasantly follows through to the taste. I have also noticed that when chilled, I taste a slight banana along with a stronger baking spice.
Overall I would recommend this rum
Received as a gift. Nice amber color, complex aroma. Medium weight on tongue, nice smooth finish with slight burn. Very nice - I would get this again when this one gets kicked.
It is a decent sipping rum, but nothing special......
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...
"El Dorado 12-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

For anyone just starting out in building their rum collection, this is THE demerara rum to own! Makes a great Donga Punch. Mix with equal parts Smith and Cross and you have a world class blended rum that cannot be beat. I am interested to see how it compares to El Dorado 8, though. The 8 is very difficult to find in my area.
