Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Smooth with a hint of vanilla, but maybe a bit too sweet.
rather simple, lacks complexity but for the price it is an excellent purchase

It's not a bad rum, it's authoritative. But it's a bit spirituous for my taste.

Mangler noter på El Dorado 12-Year
8,2:The nose is relatively light fruity notes. Held together by a dry, toasty woodiness and warm spices , it begins to deliver its luscious nutty aromas after some rest. With aeration, the sweetness of pecans and maple syrup take over, very tempting indeed. The woodiness is combined with a caramelized, lightly roasted mixture, some vanilla, toffee, chocolate and an American oak notes, like orange peel, apricots and a pinch of smokiness, all very gourmand.
8,2:The palate is very smooth and thick, with juicy prunes and dried grapes, alcohol not felt at all. Nuts and spices then enter the scene, some coffee with caramel, vanilla conveyed by a gentle woodiness with notes of tangy fruit.
8:The finish is light and spicy, smooth with some vanilla, exotic fruits are distant and smokiness.
Better than expected. A nice combo of Anglo/Spanish rum.
Got back from a tiki weekender and thought tasting a sweeter rum would be a good transition from all the sweet cocktails. The rum was better than my thought process…
Definitely sweet on the nose with notes of brown sugar.
Upon tasting, it is still sweet with of raisin/date flavor. Sweeter than I prefer but goes down easy.
I tasted this rum after some research. One of the best rums ever. I love how it feels so leafy-green-muddy- oak and fruity at the same time! Just like how it feels, smooth and a little spices at the end. Wow!!!
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...

I refuse to mix this rum because it's a waste of the subtle caramel and the gentle bite of a great rum. To be honest I tried the 15yr and 20yr and they were repulsive compared to the 12yr. Not everything older is better. Highly recommend on the rocks. This is my go to rum
