First off, I should say that I am not usually a fan of Agricoles nor with rums above about 42% (as I drink it neat and prefer something mellow). This comes in at 45% but really is quite smooth, but with just a touch of an alcoholic edge, but not harsh in anyway.
The nose has gentle sweet fruit and oak notes on it. Even though a little subdued, it was very encouraging. On the palate, I am reminded why I am generally not a fan of Agricole. It is dry, spicy, lightly oaked and has retained the lovely flavours of sugarcane. I prefer the big fat opulence of molasses rather than this finesse. But having said all that, this is a very nice rum. Not the best, but good nonetheless. Cost in French supermarket (Leclerc) €29 - so for that reason a 7
EDIT - now that I have just finished the bottle, I have come to realise that I really actually quite like it. Will I buy again? If I see in passing, I most certainly would. This is a firm 7 regardless of price, but given the €29, I thought it was good value for money given the quality that it is.
Help ... it is with this kind of agricultural rum that we discredit a whole sector!
The nose goes still but in the mouth the burning of alcohol outweighs any other consideration.
C'est bien un rhum de supermarché... à éviter !
It's a rum for supermarket ... to avoid!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Bought this one in France, while driving home from Spain.
The price was just above 30€ at the supermarket.
It’s an aromatic and complex Rhum. You can recognize vanilla, chocolate, prunes, wood and some cocoa especially in the nose. It’s quite sharp in the nose and the afterburn is medium long.
