Excellent mixer. I like the Diplomatico reserve blanco (no longer made), but Botran has a little less strong alcohol burn and a little more sweetness. (for me a little too sweet). Not very present in the nose, as we expect from a white rum, but with nice flavors of some vanilla, wood and fruit.
I find this to be a wonderful rum for mixing. It's fairly mild, and blends well with other flavors when used in a background role, but unlike most basic white rums the flavor that it does have is good enough to make spirit-forward drinks work. Can be consumed straight, but it's not terribly interesting.
A great easy white rum. The key word here is subtle. Subtle smokey aroma from the aging barrels I assume. Taste begins sweet, but ends quick with a bitter nutmeg/cacao aftertaste and flash of coconut in the middle. Would be great for mixing, but not quite for sipping.
40% ABV. This rum was smooth and slightly sweet. Almost no hint of off-putting alcohol aroma. Maybe the slightest bit of coconut. Not too different from the Real McCoy 3, though I'd choose the latter any day :)

Update 12/17 - The Dec. 23 box in the 2017 DbtD rum advent calendar. Dreaming of a "white" Christmas, are we?
Delicate nose. Coconut and tropical fruits. Palate: bubblegum, cherries, vanilla, caramel. Hint of brine. Short in flavor, short in finish. Recommended for those choosing between this and Bacardi (no contest), or those wanting a very mild white rum with hints of fruit.

Wow this does not deserve to be in a bottle ... It should power a car as petrol ... Horrible from start to finish
Nose: Clean Alcoholic at Most, Faint fruity, Fresh Vodka Like, Neutral.
Palate: Vodka, Faint Vanilla, Cocoanut Sun Screen lotion, Tequila.
Finish: Alcohol bite, Short to Medium, flat
The Label States proudly: "RESERVA BLANCA - RON ANJEO/AGED RUM"
and this is my main issue with Botran Rums. now after drinking their White Rum, i can understand where my complaints arise, and it seems now, that it would be very difficult to age a very medium quality Rum Distillate into something better refined and aged, just as i didn't feel i am drinking a 15 year old rum with Botran Solera Reserva 15, in this case i could hardly testify that i drank something which is close to being aged rum. i don't know what the reason to this failure is, is it the production process? however have in mind that Rum Zacapa comes from the very exact and same distillery. the pros are, it seems to be low in added sugars, and is well distilled and filtered to reach the clear profile of a Vodka/Clear Spirit/Tequila product level. sadly we are rum drinkers and we want to drink and taste and feel Rum. and not Vodka or Tequila. that sensation of sugar cane distillate which seems to be easily achieved in Cachaca products seems to be too illusive for the Botran distillery.
to be honest, it would be a waste to mix it, but it is not having mature enough sipping profile. should it be consumed in brief shots? missing the whole point of being an aged rum.

If youโre looking for an inexpensive silver, this is a very good choice. Smooth and no burn when drinking neat. Used it in Mojitos and is a great compliment to the mint and sugar - no complaints.
Notes of vanilla are overtaken by white grape and hints of pineapple.
"Pretty dry and spicy when taken neat. The sweetness on the nose is quickly over taken by the spiciness of the oak. The finish is very short."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A good one to have on the shelf. Mixes well with everything, and makes a wonderful daiquiri. When I don't want to mix the more expensive Cana Brava, I reach for this one.
