Quite good choice, after glass fill wait a while when strong spirit note gone with the wind. Then taste better.
One of our great aged rums. I enjoy it on the rocks or neat straight out from the freezer. It has aromas of vainilla and oak.
I found it to be smooth throughout with a great finish but a bit 'thin' at first for what I expected. This coming from someone who enjoys the sweeter side of life and blended sugar bottles!
As the title says light and delicate. I appreciate its not packed with sugar and additives but it's just not very complex when compared to the Real McCoy rums for example. Nice molasses on the nose and a follow up of vanilla in the mouth. For those wanting to begin sipping neat or with one ice cube this is a good rum to start with.
This has some heat to it for a Gran Añejo rum, but when you get passed it, the flavors are really good and it finishes smoother than expected. There's simple mild caramel/oak flavor that's really delicious. There's no added sugar to this rum so it's not as smooth as some sweeter rums, however it's got a great natural/classic taste. Recommend to purists not sugarbomb lovers. Cheers!
Given the cost, I expected much more. Bland on the nose. Not really a note of anything besides the alcohol.
A sweet almost perfumed like aroma is followed by some oak, a little spice and a lovely waft of light vanilla.
"The initial sip gives a sweet yet slightly peppery entry. Running alongside these flavours is a subtly creamy vanilla note which runs right through the rum. The finish is long and peppery."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Don Q rums are generally good price performers. the problem with the gran anejo is that for a top of the line rum are others that are just as good at better prices. Having said that, I would not turn down a glass. The gran anejo flavor and smoothness is always a true rum drinker's delight.
