Dictador bestseller. Dictador 12 Years Old is aged in American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels, then finished in Sherry casks. Your everyday companion. Beautiful in cocktails.

Notes of walnut, oak on the nose. Caramel-y dlavor but not overly sweet. I do prefer the 20yr version but this is also a nice smooth Colombian rum.
A nice tasting sweet rum with a coffee aftertaste. Not a rum I would drink on a regularly basis, but more a rum for after dinner or on a cold night. I like this 12 year old rum better, much subtle than the 20 year old dictator.
If you do like liquorice indeed you should taste this one. I do not like it very much in rum, it covers a lot. Smell was more promising, no sweet in the mouth, a surprisingly short finish, no burn at all.
I tried Dictador 12 before 20 and I really love it. Beautiful taste, wonderful aroma and good price. Very good balance
Typischer Dictador Geschmack und Geruch aleerdings noch nicht ganz so mild wie seine Grossen Brüder.
This one is very good when you want to start to find your way to the drier rums. It is smooth with little bit of alcohol burn. In taste hints of vanilla, butter, coffe and nuts. End is relatively long with hint of oak.
Ok so strong taste of coffee but sweet in the end.
It’s a very intense, pungent smelling rum.
"The taste of the Dictador initially is very much of coffee. It still has a fruity taste but it has a lot more going on that just being sweet. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The new bottlings are changed. This is now a cocoa driven rum.
It's not far away from the Dictador 20. I would go for the 12, because it's cheaper.
The Solera Dictadors were completely different. Now I have the impression that there is almost the same rum in the new bottles.
Smell: The smell is a combination of cocoa, some vanilla, spices and some wood. I can not clearly separate all flavors, but I enjoy this composition.
Taste: The taste starts with a little bit cocoa, then slightly a woody note (or call it paper) shows up followed by some vanilla. It's not watery but I noticed the dilution.
Then I got different spices like pepper and nutmeg. They are not very dominant, you get only some hints of them.
