Surprisingly smooth and drinkable for a 151. This bottle is by far the standout of Lemon Hart’s “relaunched” line of rums. This full bodies and rich dark rum adds an extra layer of warmth and complexity that I appreciate when making tiki classics at home, especially recipes like a 151 swizzle or Jet Pilot. This rum shares a lot of characteristics with their lower proof “spiced” bottle, but has noticeable character a greater depth of flavor (particularly in baking spice and dried fruits) that the lower proof variety lacks that makes it stand out in a mixed drink. Also handy for when you want to ignite a garnish. This is my preferred choice for 151 and I’d love to be able to compare it to the original some day
Perfect for any tiki drink that needs a 151 or overproof rum. Cant go wrong!
Sweet and oaky. The burn is not that strong. Here and there could be good.
I really like this run; excellent. Smooth and tasty.
With the exception of Hamilton 151, this is the standard.
Demerara comes through strong in the aroma. Very sugary, complex - hints of frosting, cinnamon, Allspice, spongecake. Aroma definitely invokes thoughts of sweetness and desserts.
Very strong flavor - would not drink neat as it will set your face on fire. Very powerful demerara taste followed by caramel and dark chocolate. Very warming flavor. Hints of cherry.
I am such a nerd for the art of blending rums into the perfectly balanced cocktail. One of my favourite secret weapons is this angel in a bottle. Fiery proof and seductive caramel make for the perfect 1/2oz in any Caribbean inspired cocktail.
On its own, this spirit is (naturally) one to knock your socks off - but damn is it tasty. The most common tasting note I've heard is Worther's, which is so accurate. Subtle chocolate flavours, vanilla, and even some fruitiness. It is absolutely a must-have for rum-drinkers and bartenders alike.
Careful, it bites, burns, and refuses to let go. We use this as top choice for a floater or mixer in tiki drinks.
Rich notes such as toffee, brown sugar, molasses, raisins.
"Lovely treacly toffee, rich toffee apple and intense candy floss flavours."

Aroma - smoky molasses followed by fresh lemon peels and cinnamon.
Taste - charred molasses followed by pure cane sugar, fresh baked snickerdoodles, and finishes with a lemon tart / barrel spice flavor.
This is a great overproof rum! Very different from other black overproof rums in flavor. It has a magical charred molasses characteristic to it and a lemon tart pastry quality that I find extremely unique. For being 151 proof, it is remarkably easy to sip on with no harsh afterburn like some of the other overproof rums I've tried. If you are into making classic Tiki drinks and like to keep your bottle count to a minimum, then this should be your go to for the black blended overproof category. Lastly at a price of $24 to $32 dollars, procuring this won't break the bank. This rum definitely gets my seal of approval!
