Virgin Islands, U.S. | Aged | 40% ABV
Cruzan Single Barrel Rum begins as an assortment of aged rums, distilled in column stills and ranging in vintage up to 12 years. After blending, the rum rests in a new oak barrel for an additional year before bottling. Each bottle of Cruzan Single Barrel rum is poured from only one barrel, which may increase color variance from batch to batch.
Cruzan Single Barrel rum is produced by the Nelthropp Family in St. Croix. The name ""Cruzan"" is derived from island's native population - the “Crucians."

The old label used to state rums aged 5-12 years. The new label appears to just say minimum of 5 years. I do not know if the blend has changed or if only the wording has changed, I still have bottles with the old label and that is what I have tried so far.
This is one of the best mixing rums that is still pretty nice when neat. I'd let it sit for 5 min or so after pouring, helps a lot imo. Bit of spice, vanilla, caramel, and smoother than you'd expect for the price.
This obviously isn't as good as El Dorado 15, Flor De Cana 18, etc but it gets the job done. Should be easy to find under $30, and at that price is definitely better than most lineup's 8 year offerings.
I have about 2-3 bottles of this at one time. It’s amazing with coke. I have some here I have some at the lake house.
Picked up a bottle on a whim and ended up surprised. Not too much of an alcohol punch, and easy on the way down. Lacks in body in my opinion, reminds me of a young-ish agricole. The nose is nice and sweet, light oakiness.
Would absolutely sip this, I don't think it needs to be relegated to a mixer.
I visited the distillery on St. Croix and fell in love with cruzan. Sadly not the rum but the place. Whem I tasted this rum in yhe atmosphere of St. Croix it tasted very good but when i returned to Denmark and tasted it again it was a different story. This rum is the most non sweet rum i have tasted. To me its a bit of a cleanser. Sorry Cruzan
Beautiful orange gold in the glass.
In the nose very fruity (tangerine, grapefruit, green apple) wood tones.
In the palate a not very complex fruit porridge, some vanilla, some herbs, some wood.
On the palate fruity, spicy, woody.
A rum for all days, certainly also nice to mix.
This is a great rum. a lot more then I expected. It has a full flavor and I like the true taste from the single barrel. I'm very happy with this and continue to go to it
Here in the UK it used to be something like 37.5% ABV but it is now at 40%. While I usually prefer my rums at 40%, I think that the 37.5% was the better drink. The oak tones used to be more pronounced, especially on the nose. However, while the nose is more spirity (as naturally the palate is as well) the oak is still plain to see on the palate. But while I like the bite to it, I have to be in the right mood and there are plenty of other rums out there that are smoother and ultimately easier to drink. I like it, but it could be better.
I like this rum as a mixer, it´s flavorful and mixed in tropical and tiki drinks it shines.

It’s very little and slightly floral with hints of fruit. It’s very light, pleasant and well balanced. .
"The rum is nice, it is well balanced with a nice mouthfeel. It offers little by way of alcohol burn and has a relatively long but inoffensive finish."

Nice and smooth. Great rum for its price point. Would buy again and again.
